2. Build a Cube House

You will be able to: Model a small house from floor to roof, then add walls types, ceilings, doors, windows and stairs. 11 lessons, 3 with a practice file.

Go to the Architecture tab and use the tools in the Build panel. After sketching an element in magenta, click the green check Finish Edit Mode.

FAQs

Is this Revit course really free?

Yes. Every lesson on this page is a free Mashyo tutorial or a free video, and you do not need an account to follow them. The practice files are optional: they are the Revit projects and families used in the tutorials, and they are available to members on Patreon for $5.5/month.

In what order should I follow the lessons?

Go from module 1 to module 7. Modules 1 and 2 teach the interface and a first small building. Module 3 covers views, module 4 presentation, module 5 massing and site, module 6 documentation and module 7 file care. Inside a module you can skip lessons you already know.

Which Revit version do I need?

The course works with recent Revit releases. The core tools, such as walls, floors, views and sections, behave the same way across versions, but ribbon labels and dialog layouts can differ slightly. Each tutorial notes the differences it knows about. Module 1 includes a post on the Revit 2027 interface.

How long does the course take?

It is self-paced, so there is no fixed length. Each lesson is a single post or video that you read or watch and then repeat on your own model. Many learners do one or two lessons per session and tick them off as they go.

Is my progress saved?

Yes. Ticking a lesson stores your progress in this browser, so you return to the same place next time. It is not tied to an account, so a different browser or device, or cleared site data, starts from zero.

Where do the practice files come from?

Each “Practice file” link opens the matching Mashyo post on Patreon, which lists its attachments. They are mostly Revit project files (.rvt) and family files (.rfa), sometimes with reference images or PDFs. One $5.5/month membership gives access to all of them, and you can cancel at any time.

Do I need the practice files to finish the course?

No. You can build every lesson from scratch in an empty project. The files save setup time and let you compare your result with a finished model.
