Want to learn how to create an angled extrusion in Fusion 360? In this tutorial, we’ll show you step-by-step how to extrude at an angle using two different methods. We’ll also show you how to bind the angle using the TAB key for accurate and consistent results.

Method 1 – Taper Angle
Details: Set the angle before starting the extrusion process.
This method is useful if you know the exact angle you want to use.
Steps
- Go to the Solid tab > Create panel > click Create Sketch.
- Click on a plane to select as a drawing face.
- Draw the shape on the plane.
- Click Finish Sketch.
- Click on a side of the ViewCube to get an isometric view.

- Go to the Solid tab > Create panel > click Extrude.
- Grab the shape upwards.
- Press “TAB” on the keyboard.
- Enter the desired angle in the “Taper Angle” field.
- Press Enter.

The Taper feature also allows you to change the angle of two sides, with each side having a different angle:
- In the EXTRUDE window, drop-down Direction menu > Select Two Sides.
- Set a distance for both shape sides.
- Change the value of Taper Angle for each side.
- Click OK.

This allows you to change the angle of simple shape extrusions at once. In the next step, you will also use the TAB key to extrude a two-dimensional profile at an angle.
Method 2 – Extrude Sketch
Details: The Sketch Extrude method allows you to extrude a 2D sketch at a specified angle.
This is a great option if you want to create a simple extrusion with angled sides.
Steps
- Go to the Solid tab > Create panel > click Create Sketch.
- Select the Z plan to draw on the vertical face.

- Select the Line tool > click to start drawing a line.
- Press TAB to constrain the line to an angle.

- Draw the extrusion path > click Finish Sketch.
- Navigate to an isometric view using the ViewCube.
- Click a side of the ViewCube to see an isometric view.

- Go to the Solid tab > Create panel > click Extrude.
- Select the face > drag the blue arrow to extrude the shape.

To extrude a shape at an angle on any face, you must first create a construction plane. This will be the plane that your shape will be extruded along or based on.
These are two simple and effective ways to create angled or slanted shapes in your designs. By using the Taper Angle or Extrude Face features, you can extrude at any angle you need in your Fusion 360 designs.
